YAY!!! Today I’ve received my new bow! It’s definitely an improvement. My violin came with an inexpensive brazilwood bow. I was absolutely not happy with how my violin sounded… so two weeks ago I put on new strings and the sound of my violin has improved, but I wanted to improve it more. That’s why I’ve been searching information to buy a better bow. The brazilwood bow I have gives a scratchy sound and squeaks all the time. Of course that’s not just the fault of the bow, mostly it’s my lack of experience, but anyway I thought a better bow might help me. I’m on a low budget so buying an expensive pernambucco bow was no option at all. It don’t think it would be useful for my cheap violin anyway.
The solution: a carbon fiber bow
Then I learned about carbon fiber bows. They tend to be significantly better than wooden bows in the same price range. So, I ordered my carbon fiber bow online at thomann.de. I must say that the service is perfect. I received the bow a couple of days after the payment and it came in a well wrapped package. So exciting to open the package!!!
Woohoo the bow is really beautiful! After putting on rosin, which took quite some effort because it is a new bow, I tried my new bow for the first time. And I LOVE IT!! My violin now sounds more mellow, it’s as if my new carbon fiber bow dampens the squeaky sounds, and produces a warmer tone than before. Of course I’ll have to practice a lot to achieve the sound I want, but I’m sure this bow will help me to improve faster and keep me motivated.
